Workout at Heritage Park in Kirkland

Here’s an intermediate level workout you can do at Heritage Park in Kirkland for lower body and cardio conditioning, coordination, balance, and flexibility.  The park is awesome, located in my dream neighborhood right off Market St.

The trail that goes around the park is .41 miles.  From parking lot, head to your left so that you are going clockwise around the trail…

Park Workout 2

When you go clockwise, you are able to start at the bottom of the steps when you get to the stairs…

Park Workout

You can do one stair exercise for every lap, or go up and down stairs performing each exercise a few rounds before continuing around the loop. Start slowly and build on your speed with each exercise.  Always walk back down steps carefully.  Same leg lead means you step up with your right leg and your left leg meets the right leg.  Repeat that pattern – it’s a coordination move.  Omit side crossovers and double hop ups if you are more of a beginner.

When you get to the picnic table with a view, perform bench step ups (up to 25 repetitions per leg).  If your knee is higher than your hip when you step on the bench, find a lower platform (maybe the rock wall next to bench).  Keep your heel pressed down on the bench.

Park Workout 1

Shadow yoga

End with a few yoga moves like mountain pose and tree pose and enjoy your view…

If you need a bonus cardio push, walk or run over to Waverly Beach Park (just a little north west off of Waverly Way) and you’ll see my dream Mediterranean style house on your left that takes up about 3 lots.

  1. Hello wohld you mind stating which blog platform you’re using?
I’m planning to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a tough time selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is becauae your design seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique.
P.S Apologies for being off-topic but I had to ask!
