Book Review: Wild by Cheryl Strayed

Wild cover

I recently read the kindle version of Wild by Cheryl Strayed and even though it’s not a book about fitness or health, it does show the power that nature has on your soul when you really let it in.  When you take away your smartphone, your camera, and just listen to the sounds and soak in your surroundings, there is nothing like it.

Cheryl was 26 when she hiked part of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) through California and Oregon by herself!  Crazy girl!!  She did a great job intertwining her interesting life stories with the struggles of being a total novice backpacker on the PCT.  It was very entertaining and it may even inspire you to spend more time outside – a walk through a meadow, a hike in the woods, or even just sitting on a beach listening to the waves. She wrote about these wooden signs that she would look for that marked the trail. Here’s what they look like…

The book is a must read before the movie comes out this December starring Reese Witherspoon.  Here’s the trailer…

You can purchase your copy of the book from Amazon here.
