Balance is often an overlooked component of fitness, but important to do for increasing stability for your everyday activities (walking, climbing stairs, reaching for an object on that top shelf that’s almost out of reach, etc.). Clock taps are a great way to challenge your balance and strengthen the stabilizing muscles of the ankle, knee, and hip.
Pretend you are standing in the middle of a clock and reach your foot…
or hand as far as possible to each position of the clock without losing your balance. Come back up to a standing position in between each position.
If you don’t have the flexibility to touch the ground, just reach down or out about thigh level and come back up.
Note: See your physician before starting any new exercise program.
