A.M. Yoga, then a Berry Breakfast

Rodney Yee’s A.M. Yoga For Your Week

I love Rodney Yee, and this is one of my all-time yoga favorites.  I would consider this a beginner to almost intermediate level yoga workout.

There are five 20-25 minute practices on this DVD, all with a different focus:

  1. Standing
  2. Twists
  3. Back bends
  4. Forward bends
  5. Hip openers
His instruction is impeccable and the music is earthy with the sounds of  Native American flutes (matching the scenery).  You can get a taste by checking out the video here.
I like that it’s 5 quick practices that are completely different.  By working your body in different directions, or planes of motion, you are balancing your body.  Don’t just do the one practice you like.  It’s the ones that are the most challenging that you need the most.  You are only as strong as your weakest link, and those weaknesses can turn into injuries if you ignore them.
If you are brand new to yoga, you may want to first start with his Back Care Yoga or Yoga for Beginners DVD, which I also own.
After doing your 20 minutes of yoga, it’s time for breakfast!

Add blueberries to your cereal, yogurt, or smoothie for added fiber and antioxidants. I add mine to my oatmeal in the morning.  Yummm!
