Healthy Grill’n

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend and not blowing your diet too badly.

My food philosophy is  eat more whole foods, less processed.  Even “light” foods can be processed down.  It is important to know the ingredients of the foods you eat on a normal basis.

When you go to the store, try to shop the perimeter of the store. This is where the meats, dairy, and fruits/veggies are kept, which should be the main portion of your diet.

Also note:  The darker the food, the more nutrients it has in it (generally speaking).  This means pick a red onion over the yellow one.

I am a huge Food Network (and Top Chef) fan, so here’s some recipes you should check out that are healthy whole foods and really yummy!

Bobby Flay’s recipes:

Grilled Chicken w/ Lemon and Arugula -Tomato Salad

If you don’t like arugula (it is a little bitter), go with a lettuce of your choice.

Grilled Jerk Chicken w/ Mango Cilantro Salsa

This one is also worth the effort.

Sunny Anderson’s recipe:

Grilled Fruit Salad w/ Honey Yogurt Dressing

Peaches would work great too.

Top Chef’s Healthy Remix Recipes

Haven’t tried all of these, but I’m working on it!

A dear friend once told me “If you can read a recipe, then you can cook!”

  1. I did buy the hot hot tomatoes this Friday. They are delish! Had four of them just now. Not blowing it…so far! Still keeping to my promises at least 97% of the time.

  2. oops I meant hot house tomatoes. Have been on the computer and phone almost 5 hours today trying to get the wifi printer up and running…still not running. I’m going to the Humber Bay park now.
